Gloverall Renewed x The Long Shot Exp
Some things just get better with time. The Renewed Hulme Cap, crafted in collaboration with The Long Shot Exp, is one of them. Handmade in their Manchester workshop, it takes a heritage staple and refines it—blending vintage inspiration with a modern, easy-going sensibility.
The original inspiration? A Richard Davis photograph of Anderson Hinds—better known as ‘Dangerous Hinds’ of the Ruthless Rap Assassins—sporting a Nike cap with an unusual front panel and what seems like a seven-panel construction. A distinctive piece of headwear on a figure steeped in Mancunian musical history.

Hulme, the cap’s namesake, has long been a hotbed of creativity and counterculture. It was home to the Ruthless Rap Assassins, whose sharp, socially conscious lyricism helped define the UK hip-hop landscape. That legacy continues—Konny Kon of Children of Zeus is another Son of Hulme, carrying the city’s sound forward. Naming the cap after this storied place felt only right—a nod to its cultural imprint and the creative spirit that thrives there.

At the heart of Hulme’s identity was the Hulme Crescents, an ambitious but ultimately flawed housing development that became synonymous with both struggle and resilience. In the ’80s and ’90s, they fostered a vibrant underground scene—a melting pot of music, art, and activism. Though the Crescents are long gone, that independent, rebellious energy still courses through the area and its people. The Hulme cap embodies that same spirit: distinctive, characterful, and built to last.
This piece is also part of our Gloverall Renewed initiative. With Gloverall Renewed, we're turning surplus materials into opportunities. Partnering with independent UK makers, we provide deadstock wool and trims, along with our technical expertise, to create exclusive, limited-edition collections. Each piece carries the legacy of our signature materials while showcasing the innovation of contemporary craftsmanship. It’s our way of breathing new life into fabrics, supporting local artisans, and offering unique garments with a story.
The Long Shot Exp isn’t just about making things; it’s about making things the right way. A small, fiercely independent workshop dedicated to traditional craftsmanship, they approach headwear with the same care and precision as a tailor does a suit. Every stitch, every cut, every considered detail speaks to their ethos: timeless quality, built to last.
Cut from Gloverall’s deadstock soft corduroy, the cap’s 7-panel silhouette nods to classic sportswear, while the unstructured crown and gently curved peak keep things effortlessly relaxed. A subtle embroidered ‘G’ sits front and centre—understated, but with just the right amount of character. And, because the little details matter, a slide adjuster at the back ensures a comfortable, custom fit.
